When Dogovan and his men are shot down over France by Elsa, his kid sister, Jane, an Allied Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP), helps to lead a hasty rescue mission to save her big brother and stop the von Tamms before they can deliver a weapon of nearly unimaginable power to New York City.
Set high over the White Cliffs of Dover, in the dank and dripping sub pens of the occupied French port of Le Havre, and in war-torn places in between, this is a short, rollicking, just-for-the-hell-of it adventure yarn, in the spirit of Alistair MacLean's "Guns of Navarone" and Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds."

Will Mari is a humorous man, and it shows through in his writing. This story is a change of pace from his writing in the University of Washington Election Eye where he has covered the election beat, or his "word of the week" articles in the Daily UW.This book is an entertaining romp set in World War II starring a fictional cast of characters. Dogovan is the hero of this story, and his mission becomes destroying Kurt and Elsa von Tamm - cruel Nazis who delight in causing mayhem, mischief, and murder.
The story is fun and a quick read. I give it four stars rather than five due to typos and grammatical issues (which the author has promised to eliminate in an upcoming update to the Kindle ebook).
Disclosure: one of the characters is loosely named after me. "Yes, Dr. Calvin Fright. A bit of an odd duck, but brilliant. Charming, in his way."

Dogovan's War dueling the von Tamms is a fast-paced, action-packed, and engaging story set during WWII. With an interesting cast of characters and challenges, this books keeps you reading.
The book has it's typos and unnecessarily long descriptions (which the author probably had too much fun writing), but when you sit back and enjoy the witty dialogue, diverse characters and non-stop action plot line you'll probably have a couple of happy hour-long bus rides. If you're looking for a quick fun read in the spirit of an Indiana Jones movie, this could fit the bill.
Prepare for an adventure that will keep you turning the pages and smiling all the while! Will Mari combines the thrills of a World War II adventure film with the comical narrative tone to weave a tale of bravery and brotherhood. My favorite character was Major Ramer, whose heroism and dashing good looks were enough to make me chortle out loud during his scenes. Though I would have liked to see more development of the female characters in this story, this didn't detract much from my overall enjoyment. I recommend Dogovan's War for those who love a risky escapade and plenty of laughs.
